Air Force vs. Notre Dame
April 9, 2004
The Game Story:
The Air Force lacrosse team got off to an inauspicious start to conference play, falling to visiting Notre Dame 12-2 in blistering weather conditions on Friday (April 9). The Falcons couldn't generate any offense and their defense had few answers for a powerful Notre Dame attack. They fall to 2-5 overall and have now lost five straight games.

"Our performance was lackluster," head coach Fred Acee said. "We aren't playing like we played early in the season. We need to work harder and motivate ourselves to play like we are capable of playing."

After the teams exchanged goals to open the first quarter, Notre Dame scored 10 consecutive goals to take an 11-1 lead. Brian Giordano had three goals and an assist for the Fighting Irish, while Matt Howell had four points on a goal and three assists.

Both Falcon goals were scored by freshman Justin Kuchta. Kuchta leads the team with 12 goals scored. Jon French had an assist.

Air Force goalkeeper Justin Pavoni was peppered with shots throughout the game. He faced 40 Notre Dame shots and made 16 saves in the loss. Air Force had 17 total shots and eight shots on goal.

Notre Dame, who is currently ranked 16th in the nation, handed Air Force its worse loss of the season. Entering the game, three of their four losses were by a single goal. Weather permitting, the Falcons will host conference foe Fairfield on Sunday, April 11th. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
