| March 3, 2012 Box Score USAFA, Colo. - Freshman Keith Dreyer (Malvern, Pa.) tallied a game-high five points as the Air Force lacrosse team earned a 13-3 home-opening win against Quinnipiac Saturday at Falcon Stadium. Dreyer registered two goals and a team-best three assists, while sophomore Mike Crampton (Kinnelon, N.J.) scored a game-high three goals as the Falcons improved to 2-2 on the season. Also scoring multiple goals for Air Force were Tommy McKee (So., Holt, Mich.) and Ryland De Pol (Fr., Riva., Md.), while junior Pat Harrison (Annapolis, Md.) notched a goal and two assists. Air Force got on the board less than a minute and a half into the game with a tally from McKee, while Crampton's first goal of the contest came just 21 seconds later. Another Crampton score put the Falcons ahead 3-0 before Quinnipiac (0-2) got on the board with 2:48 remaining in the opening period. However, Air Force closed out the quarter with two more scores to take a 5-1 lead into the second period. The Falcons pushed their advantage to six goals before Quinnipiac got back in the scoring column with a man-up goal from Basil Kostaras to bring the score to 7-2 at the half. However, Air Force outscored the Bobcats 3-1 in the third period and shut out Quinnipiac in the final stanza to earn the 10-goal win. Air Force was dominant offensively, outshooting Quinnipiac 38-12 for the game, including a 14-1 edge in the opening period. The Falcons also picked up 37 ground balls, compared to 16 for the Bobcats, and won 15-of-20 face-offs in the game. Sophomore Erik Smith (Golden, Colo.) led the way for the Falcons at the face-off X, winning 8-of-11 draws, while Bryan Price (So., Denver, Colo.) was 6-of-8 on face-offs. |
