The Game Story:
Buffalo, N.Y. ^ Canisius College freshman Kevin Ross scored six goals and added an assist, while senior Steve Muskopf registered four goals and a helper as the men^s lacrosse team posted a 16-10 win over VMI Saturday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex. The win improves Canisius to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in MAAC Lacrosse League action, while the Keydets fall to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in league play.

Canisius trailed 2-0 4:38 into the contest before the Golden Griffins registered six-straight goals, highlighted by Ross, who scored three goals during the stretch. Canisius got on the board with 9:45 left in the first stanza when senior Greg Campbell scored unassisted. Ross registered his first goal of the game with 7:52 left in the first off an assist from junior Travis Hill. Ross scored unassisted 5:18 seconds later to give the Griffs a 3-2 lead after one quarter of action.

Canisius scored the first three goals of the second quarter, with Campbell opening the scoring just 30 seconds into the frame. Muskopf scored the first of his four goals with 8:54 left before the intermission. Canisius ended the first half with a man-up goal with two seconds left as Ross scored off a pass from Hill to give the Griffs an 8-5 lead heading into the break.

VMI^s Erik Rohrmann scored the second of his three goals just 28 seconds into the second half for the Keydets to cut the Griffs^ lead to 8-6, but the Blue and Gold responded with a goal at the 6:41 mark of the third quarter as Muskopf nailed one home off an assist from teammate Matt Condon. Rohrmann scored unassisted 53 seconds later to cut the margin to 9-7 before Canisius scored the next four goals to close out the third quarter with a 13-7 lead.

Six different Canisius players scored in the win, with Ross, Muskopf and Campbell all tallying multiple goals. Hill, Condon and senior Chris Tocin registered goals as well in the win. Hill was the only Griff to post multiple assists.

Gabe McCaig led VMI offensively with five goals and two assists in the losing effort. Rohrmann had three goals, while teammate Will Collier added three goals in the loss.

Canisius goaltender Tom Kurcharczak made 10 saves to register his first win of the season. VMI goaltender Matt Hook took the loss between the pipes for the Keydets, making 12 saves on 28 Canisius shots on goal.

The Griffs will return to action March 16, at Duke. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
