The Game Story:
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Canisius College used a three-goal third quarter, jumping to a 8-3 lead en route to a 10-6 victory over visiting Wagner College in MAAC Lacrosse League action Sunday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex. Three Canisius players scored two goals apiece, while Wagner's Bryan Gallagher led all scorers with five tallies on the day.

The Griffs (3-5, 2-2 MAAC) jumped to a early 3-1 first-quarter lead on the Seahawks as sophomore midfielder Justin Masley (Sturgis, Sask.) notched two goals and junior middie Jonathan Duggan (Amherst, N.Y.) added one within the first 10 minutes of action. James Servidio scored the lone Wagner goal of the first 15 minutes. Gallagher led off the second quarter with a man-down goal just 42 seconds into the second quarter. Canisius would score again under two minutes later as sophomore midfielder Greg Campbell (Orchard Park, N.Y.) put one past Wagner goalie Phil Mackenzie at the 2:31 mark. The Seahawks cut the Griffs' lead to 4-3 on Gallagher's second of the game at the 6:39 mark, but Canisius would take a two-goal advantage into the halftime break on a goal by sophomore middie Anthony Zitnik (Hamburg, N.Y.) with 2:51 remaining in the quarter.

Canisius owned the third quarter as the Griffs would hold Wagner scoreless for the entire 15 minutes of action, while adding three tallies of their own. Sophomore attack Chris Tocin (Orchard Park, N.Y.) scored a man-up goal 1:08 into the third quarter and added another goal just 42 seconds later for a 7-3 Canisius lead. A goal by junior midfielder Matt Condon (Chittenango, N.Y.) with 3:19 remaining gave the Griffs an 8-3 cushion heading into the final quarter.

Gallagher broke the Wagner scoring draught with a goal at the 5:35 mark of the fourth quarter, but the Griffs scored two more times in the final quarter to seal the victory. Duggan added his second of the game at the 6:56 mark and junior middie Chris Fetter (East Amherst, N.Y.) scored with six minutes left in the game. Gallagher added two late goals for the Seahawks to finish the scoring. Canisius junior goalie Seth Vath (East Greenbush, N.Y.) posted six saves in 56 minutes of action for the Griffs, while senior David Pfleuger (Hamburg, N.Y.) finished the final four minutes with one save.
