The Game Story:
HAMILTON, N.Y. (3/24/09) – Senior Brandon Corp (Chittenango, N.Y.) scored three times sparking a fourth quarter rally as No. 17-ranked Colgate downed Ohio State 9-4 in men’s lacrosse action, Tuesday night at Andy Kerr Stadium. The Raiders recorded six goals in the closing period to secure their fourth straight win.

Corp scored two goals in the fourth quarter and assisted on another to extend his scoring steak to 40-games. Junior Ian Murphy (Constantia, N.Y.) recorded two goals and two assists for a four point outing, while senior Kevin Colleluori (Bethpage, N.Y.) recorded two goals.

With the scored tied 3-3 in the fourth quarter, Corp forced a turnover by Ohio State goaltender Brandon Freeman 20-yards in front of the net. Corp picked up the groundball and scored in the open net to give the Raiders a 4-3 lead with 13:48 remaining. Senior Nick Monastero (Bohemia, N.Y.) followed with a goal at the 12:15 mark to give Colgate its first two-goal lead since midway through the second period. The Buckeyes responded 19 seconds later to trim the lead to 5-4 but that was it as junior goaltender Tim Harrington (Lutherville, Md.) recorded six of his nine saves in the second half.

Corp leading scorer in the nation recorded his third goal of the game, 22nd of the season, with 9:36 remaining to give Colgate a 6-4 lead. Murphy scored 46 seconds later to extend the lead to three, while Colleluori, who is second in the nation in scoring recorded his 22nd goal of the season with 1:01 remaining followed by Murphy’s second of the game 38 seconds later.

Ohio State (4-4) scored first just over a minute into the contest when Brian Lalley beat Harrington. Colgate responded nearly four minutes later with a pair of goals as Corp tied the game 1-1 at 9:54, followed by sophomore Dave Tucciarone (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), 19 seconds later to give the Raiders their first lead of the game 2-1. Colleluori extended the Raiders lead to 3-1 with 6:22 remaining in the opening quarter.

Colgate (5-3, 2-0) would carry that two-goal lead midway through the second period before the Buckeyes tied the game with a pair of goals over a two-minute span. The game remained tied until the fourth quarter.

Harrington tallied nine stops in goal for Colgate, while Freeman posted 11 saves for the Buckeyes. The Raiders went 15-2 on face-offs led by sophomore Jim Carroll (Nesconset, N.Y.), who went 8-1 and senior Will Planer (Rumson, N.J.), went 7-1.

Colgate will stay home this weekend playing host to Patriot League rival Army on Sunday, March 29. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at Andy Kerr Stadium.
