The Game Story:
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Cornell rallied for a three-goal deficit in the fourth quarter to tie it up with 28 seconds to play, but Virginia struck in the overtime to send the top-ranked Cavaliers to a 9-8 victory on Saturday afternoon at M&T Bank Stadium in the 2012 Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic.

Cornell dropped to 3-1, while the Cavaliers improved to 7-0.

Trailing 8-5 late in the fourth, Virginia transfer spearheaded a late rally. The junior scored consecutive goals in the span of 21 seconds, then Max Van Bourgondien redirected a saved shot into the goal with less than 30 seconds remaining to send the game into an extra session.

Both teams had opportunities in the first two minutes of overtime before reigning Tewaaraton Trophy winner Steele Stanwick found Colin Briggs on the doorstep for the victory 2:25 into the four-minute sudden victory period.

English and Steve Mock each scored two goals, while Van Vourgondien was credited with a goal and an assist. Andrew West made nines saves between the pipes. Tom Tesoriero won 10-of-18 face-offs for Cornell.

The Big Red held advantages in ground balls (30-27) and narrow edges in face-offs (11-10). Virginia out-shot Cornell 38-35 and held the home team on the scoreboard scoreless in both the first and third quarters.
