| PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Dartmouth's Jamie Coffin and Ryan Danehy both scored two
goals apiece, but it wasn't enough as Brown took a 9-6 victory in Ivy League
men's lacrosse action on Saturday.
The difference was in the opening half when the Bears, 8-3 overall and 2-2 in the Ivy League, held a 4-2 lead after one period. The advantage went to 5-2 when Britton Derkac scored his second of the game early in the second quarter. The two teams traded two goals apiece in each of the remaining periods to account for all the scoring. Early in the fourth quarter, the Big Green drew to within 7-5 on Coffin's first goal of the game, but Brown's Rory Hyland answered to push the advantage back to three. There's a logjam atop the Ivy League standings after Cornell defeated Princeton, 12-11 in overtime, earlier in the day. Both the Tigers and the Big Red have 3-1 Ivy marks, while Dartmouth and Brown are a step behind at 2-2. In the nets, Dartmouth's Andrew Goldstein and Brown's Mike Levin both made 11 saves. For the Big Green, Ben Grinnell had one goal and one assist, while Tom Daniels had two assists. Dartmouth's overall mark went to 7-4 on the season. The Big Green hosts Princeton on Saturday, May 1, in a 1 p.m. game at Scully-Fahey Field. |
