The Game Story:
BALTIMORE, Md. - Dartmouth's men's lacrosse team lost its first game of the season this afternoon, falling to Penn State, 11-10, in a neutral site game at St. Paul's School in Baltimore, Md. Senior Jamie Coffin (Greenwich, Conn.) moved into a tie for 10th on the school's all-time assist charts with his 51st career helper in today's game.

The Nittany Lions jumped out to a quick lead, 5-1, after the first quarter. Dartmouth's lone goal in the opening frame came from junior Luke Antal (Shaker Heights, Ohio). The Big Green rallied in the second frame, though, with four goals, including a pair by senior Brad Heritage (Cheshire, Conn.). The last one of the half by senior Ryan Danehy (N. Billerica, Mass.) made it a two goal game at the break, 7-5.

Dartmouth (3-1) tied the game, 7-7, in the third period, getting a goal at the 9:49 mark from junior Nick Bonacci (Crofton, Md.) and another from Heritage at the 5:37 mark. Penn State answered with two quick goals to regain the lead, 9-7. Bonacci would cut the lead in half with a solo goal at the 3:25 mark, keeping the Big Green within striking distance heading into the fourth quarter.

Sophomore Tim Daniels (Duxbury, Mass.) tied the game for Dartmouth less than two minutes into the final period, but Penn State again went up by two, 11-9, with two goals just 61 seconds apart. Senior Alec Hufnagel (Scarsdale, N.Y.) scored a late goal for Dartmouth, but could not get the equalizer in the closing minutes.

Bonacci led Dartmouth with three goals and two assists while Heritage added three goals. Nate Whitaker ended the game with three goals and an assist to lead Penn State (1-2). The Big Green went 2-5 with the extra man, while the Nittany Lions went 2-8 while a man-up.
