| HANOVER, N.H. -- Dartmouth freshman Jamie Coffin exploded for four goals and
five assists, leading the Big Green men's lacrosse team to a 20-7 victory over
Quinnipiac on Tuesday. With nine points, Coffin had the most productive day on offense since Brian Merritt '97 poured in 11 points (five goals, six assists) against Vermont on April 23, 1997. The Big Green (2-0 overall) jumped out to a 7-2 lead after one period and then scored the first four goals of the second quarter for a commanding 11-2 lead. Dartmouth outshot the Bobcats, 47-28, as Quinnipiac goalies T.J. Barnett and Joe Prota combined for 10 saves. Sophomore Ben Grinnell also had a big day for the Big Green with five goals and one assist, while senior Scott Roslyn had added four goals and one assist. In the nets for Dartmouth, sophomore Andrew Goldstein stopped 10 shots before freshman Andrew Mayer cleaned up in the final 1:42, making one save. Dartmouth scored the most goals since a 23-13 victory over Holy Cross on March 17, 1999. Quinnipiac fell to 1-2 on the year. Dartmouth hosts Vermont on Saturday, March 8 at Scully-Fahey Field. Game time is 1 p.m. |
