The Game Story:
HANOVER, N.H. - A first-half flurry of 11 goals pushed the Dartmouth men's lacrosse team to a 16-7 victory over Vermont on Tuesday at Scully-Fahey Field.

Senior Nick Bonacci (Crofton, Md.) scored all four of his goals in the first half, and the Big Green picked up its second straight win for a 2-3 record. Vermont fell to 3-3 on the year.

For Dartmouth, sophomore Brian Koch (Rye, N.Y.) opened the scoring at 9:35 with his first of four tallies on the afternoon. Bonacci then sandwiched a pair around one by sophomore Jonathan Livadas (Wilmington, Del.) for a 4-0 score after the first period.

After allowing the Catamounts' Andrew Kelleher an unassisted goal 3:13 into the second, Dartmouth scored seven straight, including two by Bonacci and three by freshman Ari Sussman (New Haven, Conn.).

Sussman scored back-to-back goals about a minute apart for an 8-1 lead at 7:23, before Koch and freshman Christopher Root (Houston, Texas) found the back of the net. Sussman's third came with 32 seconds left until halftime.

Vermont started the third quarter by scoring three of the first four goals, making it 12-4 at 3:46, but couldn't get closer than a six-goal deficit, 13-7, at 7:24 of the fourth quarter.

Sussman had an outstanding afternoon for Dartmouth, contributing five assists along with his three goals. Koch was impressive, too, with three assists for a total of seven points.

Rounding out the scoring for the Big Green were senior Wilson Handler (Weston, Conn.), freshman Josh Gillam (Peterborough, Ont.) and sophomore Martin Bernstein (Washington, D.C.)

The Big Green outshot the Catamounts, 43-30, and connected on four-of-six extra man opportunities.

In goal, Dartmouth freshman Michael Novosel (Somers, N.Y.) made nine saves in the first 50:28 before sophomore Pat Marshall (Lutherville, Md.) came on in relief for one stop. Vermont's Daryl Swarts made 16 saves.

Dartmouth opens the Ivy League season on Saturday, March 24, hosting Brown at 1 p.m.
