Drexel vs. Albany

The Game Story:
Philadelphia, Pa. - Albany goalkeeper Kevin Rae made a save on Drexel's Patrick Friel (Ridley Park, Ridley) with three seconds to play as the Great Danes held on to defeat Drexel, 11-10.

Albany went ahead for good with 4:42 to play when Luke Daquino put the Danes up 10-9. After a Chris Martocchia goal, Drexel's Sean Moloney (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) brought the Dragons (1-5) to within one with 2:22 to play. The Dragons gained possession and called a timeout with 10 seconds left to set up their final scoring opportunity.

The Dragons trailed 5-0 early and didn't get on the board until the 5:27 mark of the second period. Brendan Morgan (South Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) broke the scoreless streak and freshman Matt Musci (Garden City Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park) followed as the Dragons cut the lead to 5-2 at the half.

Drexel dominated the third quarter, scoring five goals and taking a 7-6 lead when Morgan found the net for his second goal of the game. The Dragons won seven of the eight face-offs in the period. Albany's Martocchia, who led all players with four goals, tied the game with 4:09 to play. After three periods the game was tied at 7-7.

Morgan also had three assists for five points for Drexel. Friel and Musci each had three goals. D'Aquino had two goals, both in the fourth quarter, and an assist for the Great Danes. Chris Driscoll also had three points.

Drexel goalie Will Melton (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) made 13 saves in a losing cause. Rae had 11 for Albany. The Dragons are off until next Saturday when they visit Hofstra.
