Drexel Men?s Lacrosse Downs Manhattan, 13-7 March 30,2002

Philadelphia, Pa. (March 30, 2002)? Mark Williamson (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) had a goal and four assists and Joe Fiore (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown) scored three times as Drexel defeated Manhattan College, 13-7. After Manhattan opened the scoring, the Dragons (5-4) scored the next eight goals to take control of the game.

Nick Silva got the Jaspers (3-5) on the board with his first of three goals at the 13:23 mark of the first period. Drexel responded by scoring five goals in the first period and the first three goals of the second period. The Dragons? defense held the Jaspers without a shot for a stretch of more than 17 minutes as they opened up a seven-goal lead. Fiore had all three of his goals in the first half for Drexel.

Manhattan made it a game with three-straight goals in the second quarter, but Dan Kennedy ?s (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) second goal of the game with just under two minutes left in the half gave Drexel a 9-4 lead at the break.

Drexel outscored the Jaspers 4-2 in the second half. Freshmen Jarett Mizzi (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) and Sean Moloney (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) each had two second half goals for the Dragons.

Senior Jordie Olivella (Canandaigua, N.Y./Penn Yan) made five saves in the cage for Drexel before being replaced by Will Melton (Clarksville, Md./River Hill). Melton had one save in seven minutes. Manhattan?s James Amandola (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) had 15 saves in a losing cause for the Jaspers.
