The Game Story:
Freshman attackman Zack Greer scored seven goals and added one assist to guide 13th-ranked Duke to a 15-5 win over visiting VMI in men's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon in Durham, N.C.

The Blue Devils improve to 3-0 on the year while the Keydets fall to 0-2. Duke now leads the all-time series with VMI, 3-0.

Greer put Duke on top 1-0 with a goal from Matt Danowski at the 9:09 mark of the opening quarter, and the two squads split the next six goals as VMI pulled within 4-3 with just over one minute left in the first period on a goal by Gabe McCaig. Greer's second goal of the day came with five seconds remaining and started a 6-1 Blue Devil run that gave Duke a 10-4 lead at intermission.

Peter Lamade, Danowski and Greer tallied goals in the first six minutes of the third quarter to push the advantage to 13-4 before Will Collier scored for VMI to make the score 13-5 after three periods. Greer and Ben Koesterer each found the back of the net in the final 15 minutes to account for the final margin.

Greer's career-high seven goals fell two shy of the school single-game record of nine set by John Fay against Hobart in 1996 while pushing his team-leading season total to 14. Danowski and Dan Flannery contributed two goals and three assists apiece on the day while goalkeepers Aaron Fenton (7 in 45 minutes) and Dan Loftus (2 in 15 minutes) combined for nine saves.

For the Keydets, Collier and McCaig scored two goals each while Vincent Pierotti won six-of-nine face-off opportunities. Starting goalkeeper Matt Hook was credited for 11 saves in 50:45 of action in the net.
