| WEST HARTFORD, CT - The University of Hartford lacrosse team won its fourth
straight game and remained undefeated in America East play with a 13-7 win over
Quinnipiac University Sunday afternoon at Al-Marzook Field.
Hartford improved to 6-5 overall and 3-0 in the America East. Quinnipiac dropped to 2-9 overall and 1-3 in the conference. Senior Travis Eckler (Endicott, NY) scored a season-high five goals and added three assists to lead the Hawks. Classmate Chris Sauro (Syracuse, NY) and freshman Garett Kikot (Toronto, Ontario) each had a pair of goals. Quinnipiac got on the board first three minutes into the game on a score by Jon Heller. The Hawks then took control by scoring seven of the next eight goals to lead 7-2 at the half. Sauro scored both of his goals during the stretch while Eckler, Kikot and seniors Tom Fallica (Smithtown, NY) and B.J. LaVoie (Nashua, NH) each added a score. The Bobcats came out and scored the first two goals of the second half to cut into Hartford's lead. Kikot then added his second goal of the day to get the Hawks back on track, and Eckler netted three straight to put Hartford up 11-4. Eckler added his final goal of the afternoon in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Senior goalkeeper Rorke Greene (Cape Elizabeth, ME) made 10 saves against 25 shots and played the entire game for his sixth win of the season. Quinnipiac goalkeeper T.J. Barnett made seven saves against 33 Hartford shots. Hartford's next game will be against Siena on Tuesday, April 15 at Al-Marzook Field. The game will begin at 7 p.m. |
