|West Hartford, CT - The University of Hartford lacrosse team saw its six game winning streak
come to a halt with a 16-8 loss to Sacred Heart University on Wednesday night. The Hawks are
now 9-5 overall while the Pioneers improve to 4-5 overall.
Sacred Heart got on the board providing the only scoring in the first quarter. They led 2-0 after
the first period on goals from T.J. Hutmacher and Jorge Bravo. Hartford rallied to tie the score at
two in the second quarter with two goals from Tom Fallica, the first goals of the second period.
Stephen Grabow and Erick Perez put two more goals on the board for the Pioneers before the end
of the half to give Sacred Heart a 4-2 lead at the break.
The Pioneers continued to extend their lead scoring the first five goals of the third quarter in a
3:25 span to take a 9-2 lead. Hartford answered on a goal from Frank Fenimore to cut the lead to
9-3 with 9:12 left in the quarter. The Pioneers responded with four of the next five goals to take a
13-4 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Hartford will be in action again on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. when they host Albany in a game
that will decide the America East regular season title and the top seed in next week's America
East tournament. Hartford will host a semifinal game next Wednesday, May 1, at 7 p.m., against
an opponent to be determined.
