The Game Story:
WEST HARTFORD, CT - The University of Hartford menís lacrosse team dropped an 18-3 decision to Yale University on Tuesday night at Al-Marzook Field.

Kyle Washabaugh led Yale with four goals while Brendan Gibson and Michael Karwoski also finished with hat tricks. Gibson also added three assists for six total points in the contest. Chris Kempner recorded a pair of goals and three assists to finish with five points. Yale improved to 4-2 on the season.

Hartfordís three goals came from sophomores Daniel Clough and Jacob Eustice and senior Jason Whitehouse. All three goals were unassisted. Hartford dropped to 1-6 on the season.

The Bulldogs scored three goals in the first five minutes before the Hawks got on the board with 9:39 to play in the first quarter. Yale then scored the final six goals of the stanza to take a commanding 9-1 lead.

Yale scored the first three goals of the second quarter, stretching the run to 9-0 over a seven minute period. Eustice finally ended the streak with a goal with 10:20 to go, and Clough added Hartfordís final tally eight minutes later. The Hawks trailed 14-3 at intermission after being outshot 31-12 in the first half.

Yale added three goals in the third quarter and another in the fourth while holding Hartford scoreless. The Hawks had six extra-man opportunities in the second half but came up empty on each attempt.

The Bulldogs held the edge in shots (45-21), ground balls (41-19) and faceoffs (21-for-25) and went 1-for-1 on extra-man opportunities. George Carafides got the start in goal and made five saves while allowing three goals in 37:13. He was replaced by Joe Costa (four saves) for the final 22:47.

Hartford sophomore Jon McMahon made the start in goal and played all but 1:16 and allowed 15 goals while making eight saves. Freshman Pat Healy saw limited playing time in the second quarter and allowed three goals.

Hartford will next play at Binghamton University on Saturday, March 31 at noon.
