Harvard vs. Yale
April 19, 2003
The Game Story:
The Harvard men's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Night on Saturday evening at Jordan Field. The Crimson hosted Yale in its final home contest of the 2003 season, but it couldn't survive a second-half Bulldogs offensive surge and fell to the Elis, 11-6. Harvard drops to 4-8 (1-4, Ivy) on the season, while Yale improves to 8-3 (2-3, Ivy).

Senior tri-captain Doug Logigian (Huntington, NY) opened the scoring with an unassisted tally at the 14:13 mark to give the Crimson the 1-0 lead. Yale then answered with three goals of its own within a three minute frame. Senior Michael Scaglione netted two of the Bulldogs scores and junior Scott Kenworthy added the Elis' third first quarter goal. With 1:46 left in the first stanza, junior Jeff Gotschall (Swampscott, MA) brought the Crimson within one with his first goal of the night.

The second frame saw the Bulldogs take a 4-2 lead off a goal by sophomore Seth Goldberg, but the Crimson went on to score on back-to-back man-up opportunities to tie the game. Gotschall found the back of the night for his second score of the night, and freshman Steve Cohen (Syosset, NY) added another extra-man goal at 8:36. Freshman Sean Kane (Fairfax, VA) chipped in with a tally at the 6:23 mark to give Harvard a 5-4 lead at the half.

The Crimson's hot offense continued at the start of the third quarter with another man-up goal from Kane at 12:42, but Yale went on to score seven unanswered goals. Scaglione scored once more and Goldberg added two more tallies to give them both hat tricks. Junior Ned Britt chipped in two goals of his own, and senior Patrick Moylan and freshman Marcus Ruopp each found the back of the net to round out the Bulldogs scoring.

Kane was the Crimson's top scorer on the night with three points (two goals, one assist).

Yale goalie Roy Skeen made 11 saves and limited the Crimson to six tallies. Junior Jake McKenna (Darien, CT) made 14 saves and allowed 11 Bulldogs goals.

Harvard returns to action on Saturday, April 26 when it travels to South Bend, IN, to take on Notre Dame. Game time is 12 noon.
