|Worcester, MA - The Boston College men?s lacrosse team won its second straight game with an 11-10
decision over Holy Cross this afternoon at the Hart AstroTurf field. The win improves the Eagles record to
2-7 while the loss drops the Crusaders to 1-14.
Holy Cross got on the board first early in the first quarter when Dave McWilliams (Northport, NY) rocketed
a shot from the top of the crease past the BC goaltender. The Eagles answered back with three straight
goals to take a commanding 3-1 lead. After another HC goal cut the deficit to just one with 3:16 left,
Boston College responded with another marker to take a two goal lead at the end of the first period. The
Crusaders scored another goal with 13:54 left in the second quarter but the Eagles responded with six
unanswered goals to create what seemed to be an insurmountable lead (10-3) with 6:00 left in the third
quarter. Holy Cross refused to give up as it scored four straight goals with less than four minutes
remaining in the third quarter including three more by McWilliams. Holy Cross then cut the lead to 10-9
with 12:59 left in the game when Shawn McGowan (Garden City, NY) notched his second goal of the contest.
Once again the Eagles responded as Ian Frankoski scored his second goal of the game to give the Eagles a
two goal cushion. HC reduced to one with 5:10 left but that was as close as it would get. Boston College
goalie James Karamby notched four saves in the final minute of play as HC peppered the Eagle net.
The Crusaders outshot the Eagles, 40-34, but Karamby stood tall for BC posting 27 saves in the game.
