Holy Cross vs. Dartmouth

The Game Story:
WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior Paul LeBlanc (Lexington, Mass.) scored three goals and had one assist, but it was not enough as the Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to Dartmouth, 16-10, on senior day to conclude the season this afternoon on the Hart Turf Field. The Crusaders finish the season with a record of 6-8 overall, while the Big Green improve to 5-9.

Freshman Edison Parzanese (Edgartown, Mass.) also had a big game as he recorded two goals and five assists for seven points, while freshman Chris Smirti (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) scored a pair of goals. Seniors Tanner Fogarty (McMurray, Pa.), Grant Cowherd (Summit N.J), and Mike Moriarty (Fairfield, Conn.) each scored a goal.

Dartmouth was led by Brian Koch and Ari Sussman who each scored five goals.

Dartmouth opened up the scoring with a goal at the 13:39 mark in the first. The Crusaders evened up the score with a goal by LeBlanc, only to have Dartmouth respond with six straight goals to take a 7-1 lead. Holy Cross cut into the lead with a goal by Fogarty and LeBlanc's second goal of the day, but Dartmouth was able to score three goals to extend its lead to 10-3 at the half.

Holy Cross began the third period on goals by Moriarty and Smirti to narrow the margin to 10-5. However, Dartmouth responded with three consecutive goals to extend its lead further to 13-5. The Crusaders tried to close the gap on LeBlanc's third goal of the day, but Dartmouth quickly answered to make the score 14-6. Smirti then his second goal of the day and Parzanese netted a goal to make it a 14-8 game. The teams traded goals for the 16-10 final as Cowherd and Parzanese added goals for the Crusaders.

Before the game, Holy Cross recognized its seven seniors David Vafek (Michalovce, Slovakia), Mike Moriarty (Fairfield, Conn.), Tanner Fogarty (McMurray, Pa.), Grant Cowherd (Summit, N.J.), Paul LeBlanc (Lexington, Mass.), Kyle Gwyn-Williams (Shrewsbury, N.J.), and Martin Cunniffe (Needham, Mass.) for their hard work and contributions to the men's lacrosse program over their careers at Holy Cross.
