HOLY CROSS FALLS TO HARTFORD, 15-9

WORCESTER, Mass.—Hartford scored seven goals in the second quarter, erasing a 3-2 deficit after the first 15 minutes to defeat the host Holy Cross men's lacrosse team, 15-9, Saturday, March 15 in Worcester. HC dropped to 0-4 while the Hawks lifted their record to 2-1.

Holy Cross was led by freshman Billy Klotz' (Derry, N.H.) hat trick and sophomore Mike McKee (Sloatsburg, N.Y.), who totaled four points on the day with one goal and three assists.

The Crusaders received a spark from Paul Washington (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), who posted two goals within the game's first six minutes, capitalizing on a man-up opportunity. Senior Mark Tarnuzzer (West Hartford, Conn.) tacked on one of his two goals on the day to give HC some breathing room at 3-0 with 7:15 left in the first quarter. Travis Eckler and Matt Holman brought the Hawks within one at the end of the first frame. Then Hartford exploded with seven goals in the second, thanks to two each from B.J. Lavoie and Travis Eckler.

HC netted three goals to Hartford's four in the third quarter, highlighted by Mike McKee's power-play marker with 8:01 remaining. Billy Klotz notched his second and third goals of the game in the fourth quarter.

Five players for Hartford had two goals or more including: Raweras Mitchell, Travis Eckler (3 goals, 4 assists), B.J.Lavoie, Chris Sauro, Garett Kikot.

Matt Fallon (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) made his first collegiate start in goal for HC, garnering 10 saves in his debut. For Hartford, Rorke Greene tallied 11 saves in 60 minutes of play.

Holy Cross midfielder Joe Stefans (Summit, N.J.) went 5-for-7 in face offs, helping HC to the 14-of-28 total on the day.

Holy Cross returns to action, Tuesday, March 18 when it takes on Harvard in Cambridge, Mass.. Game time is 7 p.m. 1
