|Worcester, MA - The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to 0-8 on the season after suffering a 16-8 loss to
Lehigh this afternoon on the Hart Astroturf. The Mountain Hawks broke open a 3-3 tie in the second quarter with
eight unanswered goals to take control of the contest.
Holy Cross jumped out to a 1-0 lead, just 57 seconds into the game, as senior Shaun McGowan (Garden City,
NY) ripped a shot into the back of the net. Lehigh answered back with three straight goals before HC senior
Mark Tarnuzzer (West Hartford, CT) recorded an unassisted tally with 1:44 left in the first quarter. Freshman
Billy Klotz (Derry, NH) evened the score at three with 11:13 left to play in the second quarter but the Mountain
Hawks quickly responded. Jeff Weiner sparked Lehigh's eight goal outburst as he answered the HC tally with one
of his own just 12 seconds after Klotz's goal. Holy Cross cut the deficit to five (12-7) at the end of the third
period, but that was as close as HC would get.
Greg Morin led the way for Lehigh with one goal and five assists while Mike McConnell chipped in with two goals
and three assists. Tom Ellis recorded 15 saves in picking up his fourth win of the season. The Mountain Hawks
improved to 4-4, 1-1 in Patriot League play.
Tarnuzzer led HC with four goals while sophomore Mike McKee (Sloatsburg, NY) recorded four assists. The
Crusaders fell to 0-4 in the Patriot League with the loss and will next be in action on Wednesday, April, 2nd when
they travel to Albany to battle Siena.
