Lafayette Men's Lacrosse Falls to Drexel, 17-7

Seven Leopards break into the scoring column for the Leopards

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -The Lafayette men's lacrosse team scored three goals in under five minutes in the second period, but were unable to catch Drexel, falling at home, 17-7.

The Dragons scored the first seven goals of the game before senior Drew Weisman got the Leopards on the board at 8:36 of the second period. Lafayette then scored the next two, on a Mike Scolaro shot from Bart Seifert and an unassisted Luke Ryan tally.

Drexel closed out the first half with three more goals, to put the Leopards down 10-3 at halftime.

Lafayette came back from the break and outshot the Dragons 8-3 in the third period, with Seifert adding his second point of the game on a goal at 5:33.

Drexel's Mike Filippone scored his third goal of the game just nine seconds into the fourth stanza to put the Dragons ahead13-4. Trevor Ortolano and Brendan Heck answered with unassisted tallies for the Leopards, along with a Matt Lukof goal from a Heck assist, but three straight by Drexel to close the game sealed the win for the Dragons (1-1).

Lafayette (0-2) will be back in action on March 3, continuing a five game homestand, taking on Wagner at 3:30 p.m. at Rappolt Field.
