| EASTON, Pa. - Despite a career-high 19-save performance from junior
goalkeeper Brian Ward (Novi, Mich./ Novi), the VMI lacrosse team dropped to
1-5 on the season with a 10-3 loss to Lafayette (1-4) on Saturday afternoon
at a blustery Rappolt Field.
The Keydets led 1-0 after one quarter as senior midfielder John Eddy (Tully, N.Y./ Tully) scored 6:19 into the game giving the Keydets their only lead of the game. The Leopards scored four goals in the second quarter to build a 4-2 halftime lead that they would not relinquish. The lead was extended with three goals in the third quarter and three more in fourth. Junior attackmen Kyle McClure and Pat Lennon each scored two goals to lead the Leopards' attack. VMI sophomore midfielder Brian Niven (Barrington, Ill./ Barrington) won 11 of face-offs on the day. The Keydets will play again next Saturday at the U.S. Naval Academy's Rigg Miller Field in Annapolis, Md., against the Air Force Academy. Face-off is scheduled for 12 noon. |
