| EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette men's lacrosse team outscored Binghamton 7-0 in the second and third quarters on Saturday afternoon to claim a 12-6 victory at Rappolt Field. Trailing 2-0 just over five minutes into the game, the Leopards got on the board with a Ryan Hansen even-strength goal to cut the Bearcat lead to 2-1. Twenty-one seconds later, Lafayette leveled the game at two with a Colin Serling goal from freshman Mike Galione. After Binghamton regained the lead, Lafayette responded with two goals (Serling and Hansen) before Binghamton capped off the see-saw first quarter scoring to even the game at four. Lafayette regained the lead quickly and never relinquished it. Back-to-back goals from Hansen followed by a man-up goal from senior co-captain Tom Perini courtesy of Tyler Silvey to take a 7-4 advantage going into halftime. The Leopards took the second quarter momentum into the third quarter, as Will Heffernan opened the second half with a goal at the 14:26 mark. Even-strength goals from senior Franklin Floyd, Serling and Heffernan's second of the goal ended the third quarter and a 7-0 run in the middle 30 minutes of the contest. A man-down goal sandwiched by two Bearcat goals capped off the the Leopard scoring and the 12-6, evening Lafayette's record at 1-1 in the 2011 campaign. Freshman goalkeeper Andrijko Andrusko was sensational in goal, notching 17 saves on the afternoon. |
