Lafayette vs. Binghamton

The Game Story:
EASTON, Pa. -Freshman Bart Seifert scored two goals for the Leopards, but Lafayette was unable to hold on, falling to America East foe Binghamton 11-4 in men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.

Binghamton scored on the first three shots of the game, putting the Leopards down 3-0 early in the first period. Seifert scored his first goal of the game with just 3.4 seconds left in the first off an assist by Matt Lukof to cut the lead to 3-1 heading into the second period.

The Bearcats outshot Lafayette 11-1 in the second period, with Nate Kerstein and Rob Williams each registering a tally. Kerstein scored three straight goals for Binghamton, starting with his second period notch. Kerstein and the Bearcats had Lafayette down by six, 7-1, in the third quarter before Seifert scored his second goal of the game with 1:57 left to play. Phil Cavallo started off his hat trick in the third, scoring Binghamton's eighth goal with 6.7 seconds remaining.

Mike Scolaro tallied the Leopards third goal just under five minutes into the fourth period off an assist by Leo Stinson. With just over nine minutes left to play, the game was put on hold due to lightning. When the game resumed, Lafayette could not get their momentum back, and Cavallo notched Binghamton's final goal with 3:22 on the clock. With 7.7 seconds remaining, Lafayette's Mark Sluzar slipped an unassisted shot past Bearcat goaltender Kevin McKeown to notch the final goal of the game.

McKeown finished with five saves on the day for Binghamton (1-0). Lafayette goalie Michael Koch faced 37 shots, making 11 saves for the Leopards (1-3).

The Leopards will be back in action on Wednesday, March 10, as they host Manhattan in the final game of a five game homestand at 3:00 p.m. at Rappolt Field.
