|Early Offense Spurs #12 Men's Lacrosse Past Ohio State|

BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland scored the first four goals of the game and took an 11-4 lead into the fourth quarter, and the Greyhounds defeated visiting Ohio State, 11-9, in ECAC Lacrosse League action on Saturday afternoon at Ridley Athletic Complex.
Taylor Ebsary scored a goal and had three assists for a career-high four points, and Cooper MacDonnell scored three goals for the Greyhounds (6-2 overall, 4-0 ECAC).
The Buckeyes (5-5, 1-2) scored five unanswered in the final quarter, three in the final two minutes.
"We did a great job for 45 minutes today, but we have to find a way to finish out games better," Head Coach Charley Toomey said. "We are still a work in progress. There are a lot of little things that we need to do better, and making sure that we close out games in just one of them."
Chris Hurst put Loyola on the scoreboard with 9:24 to go in the first quarter, scoring his first goal of the season. Cooper MacDonnell then scored two in a row - off assists by Matt Langan and Ebsary - at 6:46 and 5:54.
Langan added a goal 30 seconds after MacDonnell's second before Ohio State's Mario Ventiquattro scored the Buckeyes' first with 3:40 to play in the quarter.
Hurst added a second goal with 2:00 on the clock, but Jeff Tundo got one back for Ohio State with 1:14 in the period.
The teams traded two goals each in the second quarter, as Collin Finnerty and Eric Lusby scored for Loyola, and James Green and Tundo tallied goals for Ohio State, making it a 7-4 Loyola lead with 5:29 to play before halftime.
John Schiavone won a faceoff for Loyola on the ensuing faceoff and scored six seconds later, starting a 4-0 Greyhounds run.
Schiavone led all players with nine ground balls, and he won 16-of-23 faceoffs for the Greyhounds.
Josh Hawkins scored a goal four minutes later off an Ebsary pass in an unsettled possession, giving Loyola a 9-4 halftime lead.
The Greyhounds held Ohio State scoreless in the third quarter, and MacDonnell and Ebsary scored to make it 11-4 with 3:40 remaining in the frame.
Dan Wertz broke up the Loyola run with a Buckeyes' goal 2:22 into the fourth quarer, and Mike Pires added an extra-man goal just over 3:32 later. Green scored with 1:48 remaining in the game, and Tundo added a pair with 30 and 15 ticks on the clock.
Jake Hagelin made 14 saves in goal for the Greyhounds, giving him 29 in the past two Loyola victories. He also had four ground balls and caused an Ohio State turnover.
Led by Ebsary, Hawkins and Michael Crimmins, Loyola's short-stick midfielders held Logan Schuss, Ohio State's leading scorer, without a goal in the game.
The win in front of 1,624 fans wrapped up a four-game homestand for Loyola at Ridley. The Greyhounds hit the road next weekend for the first time in over a month when the travel to Fairfield, Conn., for a 1 p.m. game at Fairfield on Saturday, April 10, 2010.
