The Game Story:
KINGSTON, N.Y. - Freshman Matt Lalli (Princeton Junction, N.J.) and sophomore Brendan Hurley (West Islip, N.Y.) each recorded six points to lead the Colgate menís lacrosse team to an 11-7 victory against Marist on Tuesday, Mar. 29. With the win, the Raiders improve to 4-3 overall this season, while the Red Foxes drop to 1-3.

The two teams were tied, 1-1, at the end of the first period. Hurley scored his first of four goals on a man-up opportunity 30 seconds into the second half to give Colgate a 2-1 edge. Lalli assisted on back-to-back goals, including one by junior Brian Robinson (Denver, Colo.) and another tally by Hurley, as the Raiders went up 4-1. Lalli responded to a goal by Maristís Tim Iuculano, but Iuculano scored again with 67 seconds left in the half to cut Colgateís lead to two, 5-3.

Bill Duerr scored a man-up goal 59 seconds into the third quarter, and Iuculano netted his third score of the game less than a minute later to pull even at five-all. Duerr scored again at the 7:11 mark to give the Red Foxes a 6-5 edge, but Hurley got Colgate back to even with a goal 36 seconds from the end of the period.

The Raiders scored four straight goals to open the fourth quarter and break open a 10-6 lead. Sophomore Rob Ryan (Manhasset, N.Y.) found the back of the net 17 seconds into the session, and sophomore Colin Hulme (Framingham, Mass.) followed with his second career goal 1:10 later. Junior Reid Diamond (Boston, Mass.) scored at the 11:11 mark, and Lalli connected with Hurley to close the 5-0 run with 8:46 on the clock. Duerr netted his second man-up goal of the game with 5:42 to play, and Lalli capped the scoring with a goal from Hurley at the 2:47 mark.

Junior goalkeeper Andrew Jarolimek (Silverthorne, Colo.) made 12 saves, including five in the fourth period, to earn the win. Maristís Stephen Gravino contributed 10 stops.

Colgate resumes Patriot League play when it hosts Holy Cross on Saturday, Apr. 2, at Tylerís Field. The action begins at 3:00 p.m.
