Marist vs. Mount Saint Mary's

The Game Story:
The Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse team lost at Marist, 9-4, this afternoon at Leonidoff field. The Mount falls to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with the loss while Marist improves to 3-2, 2-0.

Taking a slim 4-3 lead into the third period, the Red Foxes exploded for four goals in the quarter to seal the win. Brian Diele began the scoring drive at the 7:48 mark tallying back-to-back goals. Diele finished the day with a game-high four goals. Freshman Keith Detelj added a goal at the 3:05 mark. The Mountaineers broke up the scoring run on an unassisted goal by Eric Seifert, his eighth of the year, but Marist answered with 39 seconds left in the period as Tim Iuculano connected with Josh Ben-Eliyahu.

The Red Foxes shutout Mount St. Mary's in the final period, while Ben-Eliyahu tallied his second goal of the game this time off of a pass from Andrew Walsh.

The Mount opened the scoring at the 7:21 mark in the first period on a the first collegiate goal by sophomore Tilghman Herring. Marist went on to score the next four goals over a period in a half, making the score 4-1. The Mountaineers answered in the second period as Billy Jautze netted back-to-back goals with just under two minutes remaining.

In net, Steve Gravino 14 saves, while Mount's Dan Whitehurst made 10 saves.
