Navy vs. Colgate

The Game Story:
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (3/21/09) ĖSenior Brandon Corp (Chittenango, N.Y.) scored three times and added a pair of assists as the Colgate University menís lacrosse team won its third straight game topping No. 13-ranked Navy 10-9, Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The win was the Raidersí first at Navy and second straight against the Midshipmen.

Senior Kevin Colleluori (Bethpage, N.Y.) added three goals and an assist for a four point outing, while junior Zack Craumer (Greenwich, Conn.) added two goals. Corpís five-point outing extended his scoring steak to 40-games.

With the scored tied 8-8 in the fourth quarter, Corp found the back of the net with 12:27 remaining to give Colgate its first lead since the 6:44 mark in the second period. The goal was Corpís third of the game and 19th of the season. Colleluori extended the Raiders lead to 10-8 at the 5:48 mark with his team leading 20th goal of the season. Navy trimmed the lead to one 40 seconds later but that was it as junior goaltender Tim Harrington (Lutherville, Md.) recorded seven of his 13 saves in the second half.

Colgate (4-3, 2-0) opened the contest with the first goal 21 seconds into the game as sophomore Rob Bosco (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) recorded his fifth goal of the season. After giving up a pair of goals the Raiders responded with three of their own as Craumer, Corp, and senior Nick Monastero (Bohemia, N.Y.), gave Colgate a 4-2 lead. The Midshipmen would add one more near the end of the first to narrow the lead to 4-3 during the first break.

The two teamís swapped goals for a majority of the second quarter as Colleluori and Corp both scored. Colgate maintained a 6-5 lead until Navyís Tm Paul tied the game with 14 seconds remaining.

Navy (6-3, 3-2) opened a two-goal lead mid-way through the third quarter after goals from Joe Lennon and Patrick Moran. The Raiders responded at the 2:10 mark when Colleluori recorded his second of the game to narrow the gap to 8-7. Craumer then tied the game 8-8 with his second of the game 45 seconds later off an assist from Corp.

Harrington tallied 13 stops in goal for Colgate, while RJ Wickham posted four saves for the Mids.

Colgate hosts Ohio State on Tuesday, March 24. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at Andy Kerr Stadium.
