Providence vs. Brown

The Game Story:
Providence, Rhode Island - Sophomore Kyle Hollingsworth and freshman Thomas Muldoon scored two goals each to lead the 18th-ranked Brown men's lacrosse team to a 7-3 victory over cross-town Providence College on the Friars' campus. The win lifts the Bears to 2-1 overall, while the Friars drop to 0-3.

Brown got on the scoreboard first when senior David Madeira grabbed a pass from senior Alex Buckley to score his first goal of the season with 9:24 left in the first quarter. The Bears would extend their lead to 3-0 midway through the second quarter on goals by Mike Bernard and Muldoon, who scored lying on his back, firing the goal over goalie Peter Littell's left shoulder.

The Friars' Devin McBride scored with 4:17 left in the half to cut the Bears' halftime advantage to 3-1.

The Bears jumped out to a 5-1 third quarter lead on a goal by senior Will Davis with 10:22 left and Hollingsworth's first goal of the game with 9:32 left in the quarter. McBride scored his second goal of the game for the Friars with 2:14 left in the quarter, but Muldoon answered by scoring his second goal with 1:38 left in the quarter to give the Bears a 6-2 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Hollingsworth netted his second goal of the game to give Brown its biggest lead, 7-2, with 13:46 remaining in the game. The Friars' Michael Farley scored with 8:13 left to play for the final score of the game.

Brown's defense was outstanding all day with sophomore goalie Jordan Burke going the distance, making seven saves for the Bears. Littell registered 13 saves in net for the Friars.

The Bears will be back in action again on Tuesday, March 13th at home against Bellarmine. Game time is 4:00 p.m. at the Erickson Athletic Complex.
