Providence vs. Denver

The Game Story:
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team fell to the Pioneers of Denver by a score of 10-7 at the Friar Lacrosse Complex on Tuesday, April 3. Graduate student Michael Farley (Westfield, N.J.) scored three goals to the lead the Friars. After scoring the first goal of the game, Providence fell behind 5-1, but managed to tie the game at 7-7 midway through the fourth quarter. Denver finished the game with three unanswered goals to earn the 10-7 victory.

Farley got the Friars on the board just over a minute into the game on an unassisted goal. The Pioneers responded with three goals to end the first quarter with a lead of 3-1. Illija Gajic had two of the three goals for the Pioneers in the quarter. Brad Richardson scored two goals for Denver early in the second quarter to jump out to a 5-1 lead. Providence answered, scoring three times before the end of the first half and trailed 5-4 at halftime.

The Friars struck first in the third quarter with another goal by Farley which tied the game at 5-5. Denver tacked on one goal before Providence's Devin McBride (Marblehead, Mass.) netted the equalizer near the end of the quarter. McBride finished with two goals and one assist.

The Pioneers took a 7-6 lead before Farley tallied his third goal of the game to even the score at 7-7. Denver scored the last three goals of the game to earn the 10-7 victory. The Friars continued their dominance in face-offs, winning 14 of 20. Senior Peter Littell (Upper Montclair, N.J.) made 10 saves for the Friars in the loss.

Providence (0-8, 0-3 MAAC) will return to action on Saturday, April 7 at Wagner. The game has a scheduled start time of 2:00 p.m.
