|PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's lacrosse team defeated
Marist, 12-7, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action, on Tuesday,
March 26, in Providence, R.I. The win marks the fourth-straight for the
Friars, who improve to 5-2 overall, and 2-0 versus MAAC opponents.
Sophomore Kevin Kornobis (Merrick, N.Y.) led the Friars with four goals.
Senior Kyle Ojakian (Cheshire, Conn.) netted one goal and added a
season-high five assists for six points. Freshman Dan Giuntini (Flora
Park, N.Y.) scored a career-high three goals, including the eventual
game-winning goal, with 10:43 remaining in the third quarter. Giuntini
also added one assist. Junior Jon Meehan (Peabody, Mass.) scored two
points on one goal and one assists. Sophomore Ryan Russell (Montvale,
N.J.) and freshmen Frank Bosco (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and David Krasnica
(Mendham, N.J.) each scored one goal. Senior Chris Houston (Garden City,
N.Y.) was credited with one assist.
For Marist, Brian Diele, Josh Ben-Eliyahu and Paul Donohue each scored two
goals. Donohue became Marist's all-time leading goal scorer as he
connected on his second goal of the game with 11:05 remaining in the fourth
quarter. Donohue's record-setting goal was assisted by Sean Sweeny. Jay
Nahama scored one goal for the Red Foxes and tallied a team-high two assists.
Senior John Farley (West Simsbury, Conn.) recorded his fourth-straight
victory in goal with 11 saves. Brian Schumeyer recorded 11 saves for
Marist, who falls to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the MAAC.
The Friars will face Siena in MAAC action on Saturday, March 30 at 3:00
p.m., in Loudonville, N.Y.
