April 18, 2007
The Game Story:
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team defeated the Red Foxes of Marist by a score of 13-7 at the Friar Lacrosse Complex on Wednesday, April 18. The Friars, who won their third-straight game, were led by seniors Brendan Ryan (Chatham, N.J.) and Mark Bundra (Winnetka, Ill.) . Ryan notched two goals and added four assists for six points, giving him 100 career points as a Friar, while Bundra had two goals and an assist. Ryan becomes the 20th Friar all-time to reach the 100-point milestone. He currently is tied for 19th on the all-time scoring list at PC (100 points) and is tied for 7th all-time in career assists (77).

The Friars struck early as Bundra scored the game's first goal at the 14:22 mark, giving the Friars the early 1-0 lead. Marist answered equally as fast, as Pete O'Hara scored at the 13:44 mark. Providence then scored three straight goals to go up by three goals, 4-1, with 3:31 left in the first quarter. Bobby Labadini (Westford, Mass.) had the first of the goals, with an assist going to Ryan. Next it was Ryan striking for an unassisted tally, followed by Bennett Murphy (Princeton, N.J.). Marist closed out the scoring in the first quarter, as Keith Detejl made it a 4-2 advantage for the Friars.

In the second quarter, PC scored even strength goals from Bundra and Henry Pynchon (Ipswich, Mass.), as well as a man-up strike by graduate student Michael Farley (Westfield, N.J.), with an assist going to Ryan. Matt Teichmann scored Marist's lone goal of the second quarter, and so the teams went to half-time with the Friars holding a 7-3 lead.

Marist came out and scored the first two goals of the third quarter, making the score 7-5, but it was as close as the Red Foxes would get. Just 37 seconds after Marist netted their second goal of the third, Bundra answered for PC, scoring a man-up goal that was assisted by senior Jason Trout (Lutherville, Md.). The Friars closed out the third with two more goals, as Murphy netted his second of the game and freshman Jackson Fallon (Arlington, Mass.) scored a man-up goal at 2:38 of the third. Ryan assisted on Fallon's goal. With one quarter to play, the Friars led 10-5.

In the fourth quarter, the Friars picked up right where they left off as Ryan netted his second goal of the game, and his 100th point as a Friar. PC also got goals from Robert Lamontagne (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Colin Tigh (Garden City, N.Y.) in the fourth. Lamontagne's goal was assisted by Labadini, while Tigh's goal marked his first as a Friar.

Senior Thomas Wenskus (East Islip, N.Y.) dominated the face-off "X", winning 14-of-21 face-off opportunities. Senior goalkeeper Peter Littell (Upper Montclair, N.J.) registered 13 saves in the win for PC.

Providence (3-8, 3-3 MAAC) will return to action on Saturday, April 21 against North Carolina. The game will be played at Noon.
