Providence vs. Quinnipiac

The Game Story:
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team fell to Quinnipiac, 6-5, on Friday, March 2 at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in Providence, R.I. It marks the second-straight one-goal loss for the Friars to open the season (0-2). Quinnipiac improves to 1-1 on season.

Tucker Prudden scored two goals and added one assist, while Mike Stottler recorded one goal and three assists in the win for the Bobcats. Five different Friars scored goals in the PC effort. Graduate student Michael Farley added one assist for a team-high two points on the day.

The Friars got on the board first as Farley connected on his first goal of the season off a feed from freshman Garrett Kanter. The Bobcats tied the game, 1-1, as Jon D'Ascoli connected on a goal with 49-seconds left in the quarter off an assist from Stottler.

Quinnipiac took a 2-1 lead early in the second quarter at the 13:25 mark as Matt Loveland scored off a feed from Drew Maceranka. PC's Devin McBride answered with a man-up goal assisted by Jackson Fallon to knot the game at 2-2. The Bobcats then scored three-straight goals to take a 5-2 lead - one goal in the second and two in the third quarter. The last of the three goals came at the 5:28 mark.

Providence's Henry Pynchon made the score 5-3 as he connected off a pass from Farley with 3:34 left. Mark Bundra brought Providence within a goal (5-4) as he scored off a feed from Bennett Murphy with 19-seconds left in the quarter.

Mike Gast tallied what proved to be the game winning goal during a man-up situation with 9:37 on the clock in the fourth quarter. Stottler was credited with the assist, making the score, 6-4. PC's Robert Lamontagne struck for his first goal of the season, unassisted, with 6:54 left to play, but the Friars' comeback fell short. Providence scored three of the last four goals in the game.

Senior Peter Littell made 11 saves in goal for Providence. Roger Fish earned the victory for the Bobcats in goal with six saves.
