Providence vs. Bryant

The Game Story:
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team (1-6, 0-2 BIG EAST) fell to the Bryant Bulldogs (6-2) by the score of 9-4 on Tuesday, March 27 in Providence, R.I.

Sophomore Andrew Barton (Timonium, Md.) led the team in scoring with two goals and an assist. Junior JT Weber (West Hartford, Conn.) and freshman Greg FitzMaurice (Huntington, N.Y.) each notched a goal. Sophomores Sean Wright (Silver Spring, Md.) and Robert Stack (Medfield, Mass.) each had an assist in the game. Senior goalkeeper Christian Dzwilewski (Huntington, N.Y.) finished the game with six saves and two groundballs.

The Bulldogs started the scoring with a goal at 13:41 on the clock but the Friars responded as Weber notched his eighth goal of the season with 11:15 to play. The goal was assisted Barton. The teams would trade goals one more time in the remainder of the first period as Bryant's Peter McMahon scored at the 6:46 mark. Barton followed with a goal on a ball from Wright to leave the game knotted, 2-2, entering the second period.

Providence entered the second period strong with a goal at the 11:12 mark by FitzMaurice. Robert Stack assisted in the play. The Bulldogs finished period with three goals at 6:14, 2:10 and 1:29 to take a 5-3 lead.

In the third quarter, neither team scored until Barton notched his second goal of the game at the 6:02 mark. With 1:29 to play, Bryant's Travis Harrington scored to extend the Bulldog lead to two, once again, at 6-4.





Providence could not convert a goal in the final quarter. Bryant notched three goals to end the game with a five point lead, 9-4.

Through seven games, Barton leads the team in points (16) on 11 goals and six assists.
