Quinnipiac vs. Boston College

The Game Story:
Senior Mike Baglio led Quinnipiac to a sweet victory with five goals over a tenacious Boston College. Helping fuel the fire was Senior John Giordano who had two goals and three assists for QU. The win was the last non-conference match-up for the men's lacross season, making it's record now 4-4.

Quinnipiac opened up the first quarter with two goals, both scored by Mike Baglio. Giordano landed an assist on the second goal. Boston College answered with just 0:24 left in the quarter with an extra-man opportunity goal by Sophomore Alexander Gschwend.

A tight defensive second quarter only led to two goals, one contributed from each team. Quinnipiac's goal was scored with 4:31 remaining in the quarter by Sophomore Andy Pelletier and was assisted by Giordano. Boston College answered again though with only 1:09 remaining by an unassisted goal of Theordore Cella.

Afer the half Quinnipiac came back strong with two quick goals at 14:42 and 10:50, the first scored by Mike Baglio and the second by Giordano with an assist from Joe Baglio. But the Eagles weren't ready to quit for they put a goal in the net a little over a minute later at 9:12 from Junior Bryan Albano, assisted by Kevin Dunphy. QU closed out the quarter with Mike Baglio's fourth of five goals for the game at 7:02, assisted by Jeff Speed.

Down 6-3, the Eagles scored with 8:39 left in the game with an unassisted goal by Rory Smith. Quinnipiac quickly answered though with three goals in less than a three minute span to secure the win over Boston College. The three consecutive goals were scored by John Giordano, Andy Pelletier and Mike Baglio. Senior Jeff Speed added his second assist as well as Giordano for his third.

Quinnipiac's remaining games in the scheduled season are all American East Conference match-ups. The men return to action next Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at Siena College in Loudonville, NY at 3:00 pm.
