Quinnipiac vs. Canisius

The Game Story:
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team improved their record to a perfect 4-0 with a 9-4 victory over Canisius on Sunday afternoon. Eric Trama had three goals and two assists for five points, while Tucker Prudden also tallied a hat trick to lead the way for the Bobcats. Eight players tallied points on the day for Quinnipiac.

Quinnipiac improves their perfect record to 4-0 overall, while Canisius drops to 1-3. The Bobcats have a record of 3-0 against MAAC schools. In earlier action this season, they defeated Wagner and Manhattan by scores of 13-3 and 10-8, respectively.

Both teams had numerous chances to score out of the gate. Quinnipiac's Tucker Prudden put the Bobcats on the board at 4:57. The Bobcats led by a score of 1-0 after the first period.

After Canisius scored two goals to open the second period courtesy of Dan McAuliffe and Kevin Ross, the Bobcats would go on two spurts of scoring four straight goals and never look back. The Griffs held a lead in this game for only nine seconds by a score of 2-1.





The last eight Bobcat goals all had assists tacked on to them. Prudden scored the second Bobcat goal to tie the game up at 8:34 with an assist coming from Trama. Sean McBride scored the eventual game-winner at 1:40 with a helper from Jon D'Ascoli. Trama racked up his first of three goals before halftime with 43 seconds left on the clock. He was set up by Anthony Poerio. The Bobcats held a 4-2 lead at recess.

Trama picked up right where he left off with the first goal of the second half at 10:02. He was set up by Chris Griffin to give the Bobcats a 5-2 lead. Canisius closed the gap to a goal with scores coming at 8:55 and 7:23. The Bobcats held a 5-4 lead going into the final frame.

With the score tightened up at 5-4, the fourth period belonged to Quinnipiac. The Bobcats scored four goals that went unanswered by the sounding of the final horn. Four different Bobcats scored goals, and they were assisted by four other Bobcats. Goals came at 13:49 from Josh Murray, 7:25 from Griffin, 6:46 from Trama with a man advantage, and at 6:04 from Prudden. Assists were credited to Eddie Morley, Trama, McBride, and D'Ascoli, respectively.

Quinnipiac's James Nastro made 15 saves on 19 chances, while Tom Kucharczak of Canisius made 12 saves on 21 chances.

The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team closes their five-game homestand on Saturday when they play their first conference game in the Great Western Lacrosse League. Ohio State will make the trip to Hamden for a 12:00 p.m. start. The men's game is the first of a double-header. The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team will follow at 3:00 p.m. vs. UConn.
