Quinnipiac vs. Notre Dame
May 5, 2007
The Game Story:
The Quinnipiac University men's lacrosse team put forth a valiant second half comeback attempt, but No. 8 nationally ranked Notre Dame proved to be too much on Saturday in a Great Western Lacrosse League contest. The Fighting Irish came away with a 14-9 victory in the regular season finale for both clubs.

Notre Dame struck first just over two minutes into the game, but Quinnipiac answered on a marker from Todd Kaiser (Summit, N.J.). However, the Fighting Irish scored a goal just 43 seconds later and would never trail again in the contest.

Notre Dame added two more goals before the end of the first quarter, and then scored the first goal of the second period to extend its lead to 5-1.

Quinnipiac cut the lead back to three on Kaiser's second of the game. The Fighting Irish then scored the final two goals of the period to take a 7-2 lead into halftime.

Notre Dame tacked on three more goals early in the third to extend its run to five straight and a 10-2 cushion.

The Bobcats responded by rolling off the next five goals of the game to climb within 10-7.

Mike Stottler (Wantagh, N.Y.) started the comeback effort with two goals in 53 seconds midway through the third period. Quinnipiac trailed 10-4 heading into the final quarter.

Mike Annunziata (Mahopac, N.Y.) then connected for three straight fourth quarter scores to make it a 10-7 game.

Notre Dame scored the next two goals to extend its lead to 12-7 before Tucker Prudden (Andover, Mass.) found the back of the net for the Bobcats.

Stottler capped the hat trick with a goal in the closing minutes. It was a marker that was sandwiched around two Notre Dame tallies.

Jamie Prudden (Andover, Mass.) finished with 13 saves for the Bobcats.

Quinnipiac concludes its 2007 campaign with a 6-7 record.
