Quinnipiac vs. Stony Brook

The Game Story:
Jon D'Ascoli and Jason Barratt both scored late fourth quarter goals, but the Quinnipiac men's lacrosse team's rally fell just short against No. 18 Stony Brook, 12-10 in America East action at Yale Field in New Haven, Conn. on Saturday night. The Bobcats fall to 0-6 (0-1 America East) this season, while the Seawolves improve to 5-1 (1-0 America East).

James Nastro was tremendous in goal for the Bobcats. He made 15 saves, including several at point blank range.

Josh Murray got the Bobcats on the board just 41 seconds into the game. Stony Brook responded with three straight goals to take a 3-1 advantage. Barratt and Leigh DiPace scored consecutive goals for Quinnipiac to tie the game at three with 13:04 remaining in the second quarter.

The rest of the half was a back and forth battle, with no team enjoying a lead of more than two goals.

The Seawolves increased their one goal halftime lead by outscoring the Bobcats 3-1 in the third quarter to take a 11-8 lead heading into the final 15:00 of play.

After Sean Chamberlain made it 12-8 in favor of Stony Brook, D'Ascoli and Barratt tallied goals for the Bobcats to make it 12-10 with 3:01 left in regulation. The Seawolves were able to hold off one last charge by the Bobcats to clinch the victory.

Barratt and Murray both scored two goals for the Bobcats. Jason Cappadoro led Stony Brook with three goals and three assists.

The Bobcats will play their second consecutive home game when they take on Harvard on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in Hamden, Conn.
