| Freshman Brody Eastwood (Victoria, British Columbia) scored the game-winning goal with 40 seconds left in the third overtime as the Stony Brook men's lacrosse team (3-2) defeated Rutgers, 9-8, Saturday at the Rutgers Stadium Complex. Eastwood took a pass from senior Jeff Tundo (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and beat Rutgers goalie Kris Alleyne over his left shoulder. Stony Brook is over .500 for the first time under coach Jim Nagle. Freshman Challen Rogers (Coquitlam, British Columbia) was outstanding, tallying three goals and three assists. Tundo added a goal and three assists for the Seawolves, who won the ground ball battle (29-26) for the first time this season. Sophomore Mike Andreassi (Holbrook, N.Y.) and freshman Chris Hughes (Oceanside, N.Y.) each recorded a pair of goals. Freshman Dan Shaughnessy (Sudbury, Mass.) finished with 10 saves. |
