Sacred Heart vs. Hartford
April 22, 2003
The Game Story:
FAIRFIELD, CT - The University of Hartford lacrosse team had its six-game winning streak snapped at Sacred Heart Tuesday afternoon, falling 13-11 to the Pioneers behind a pair of late scores.

Hartford dropped to 8-6 overall while Sacred Heart improved to 6-7.

Sacred Heart's Ben Giamichael broke an 11-11 tie with 39 seconds to play, and Erick Perez added his third goal of the day just 19 seconds later to lift the Pioneers to victory. The Hawks had used a late rally to come back from a three-goal deficit with under three minutes to play but came up short in the final seconds.

Reigning America East Co-Player of the Week Travis Eckler (Endicott, NY) and senior classmate Tom Fallica (Smithtown, NY) each netted four goals for the Hawks on the day. Freshman Garett Kikot (Toronto, Ontario) also netted his fourth hat trick in five games, though Hartford didn't get any other offensive contributions from its other players.

Senior goalkeeper Rorke Greene (Cape Elizabeth, NY) made 11 saves against 40 shots. Sacred Heart's Thomas Hind made eight saves against 25 shots.

Hartford will close out the regular season with its final America East contest against Stony Brook on Saturday, April 26 at Al-Marzook Field. The Hawks have already clinched the No. 1 seed in the America East Lacrosse Championship and at least a share of the regular season title. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
