Canisius Starts Quickly, Holds Off Saints

Golden Griffins score game's final four goals to pull away 14-8

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Canisius raced to leads of 4-0 and 6-1 and held off Siena 14-8 in rainy conditions Sunday afternoon at Siena College. With the loss, the Saints closed the season 1-13 and 0-7 in the MAAC while Canisius finished 5-8 and 3-4 in conference play.

Siena didn't give up after falling behind, rallying to pull within 10-8 with 12 minutes left in the game. However, the Golden Griffins scored the game's final four goals to pull away down the stretch. Siena controlled play for much of the game, outshooting the Griffs 34-26. However, Canisius made the most of their opportunities and also dominated the faceoff circle, winning 15 of 21 draws.

Greg Campbell led the victors with two goals and four assists. Canisius featured a balanced attack with 10 different players scoring goals.

Tom Nally (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) led the Saints with three goals and an assist while Daniel Wolpert (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Kennedy) added a pair of goals and assists.
