Saint Joseph's vs. Lehigh

The Game Story:
PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team fell to Lehigh, 11-4, in the season opener on Saturday at Finnesey Field. Ryan McGee scored two goals for the Hawks in the losing effort.

McGee netted his first goal at the 6:52 mark of the first quarter off of an assist from Patrick Townsend to make it 2-1, after two early goals by the Mountain Hawks. The Hawks second goal came from Augustus Quinzani as he fired a shot that found the back of the net with 2:16 left to play in the first to even the score.

The Mountain Hawks were able to take control of the game in the second and third quarters by scoring six unanswered goals.

It was not until the 11:57 mark of the fourth quarter when the Hawks got back on the board with a second goal from Ryan McGee. Lehigh went on to add two more goals before Bobby Hurley scored his first goal of the season which came at 1:16 to make it 11-4. Kyle Williams was credited with his first assist on the season as he set up McGee.

Overall, Lehigh out shot Saint Joseph's, 38-30, and held a 13-4 advantage in faceoffs. Adam Johnston led the Mountain Hawks with four goals, while Brian Hess and Cody Ferraro added two apiece.

SJU goalkeeper Griffin Ferrigan totaled 18 saves on the day, with nine of them coming in the second quarter.

The Hawks return to action on Saturday, February 18, when they travel to Bryant to take on the Bulldogs. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
