The Game Story:
PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore Mike O'Neill scored five goals as Saint Joseph's (3-10, 2-5 MAAC) erupted for a season high 16 goals and defeated Wagner (1-12, 0-8 MAAC) in MAAC Men's Lacrosse League action on Finnesey Field, 16-8. Junior Brian Ponne added four goals for the Hawks and Andrew Four had two goals and four assists.

The Crimson and Gray got off to a quick start scoring the game's first four goals, including two on the power-play. A netter by the Seahawks Mike Sciamanna snapped the SJU run, but the Hawks added three more before the end of the first quarter and led at the break 7-2.

O'Neill picked up his third goal to open the scoring in the second frame. Wagner, however netted three of the next four goals, as Sciammanna added two more, to cut the SJU lead down to 9-5.

Three straight SJU goals to end the half, one by O'Neill and two by Ponne, put St. Joe's in command at the half, 12-5.

SJU added the first two goals of the third quarter and outscored Wagner 4-3 in the second half to cruise to the 16-8 win.

Senior Kevin McGrann had five points (2 goals, 3 assists) for the Hawks. Sciamanna led Wagner with four goals and an assist.

SJU's Dan Morrissey made 11 save in goal, before giving way to Tim Brown. Wagner's Chris Sochacki had 12 stops before being replaced by Phil Mackenzie.

Wagner outshot SJU 42-39, but the Hawks had a 45-36 advantage in groundballs. Each team converted 14-28 faceoffs. SJU was 4-6 on the extra-man, while Wagner was 4-7.
