The Game Story:
Stony Brook, N.Y. - Evan Calvert scored four goals to lead Harvard to a hard-fought 9-8 win over Stony Brook at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium Saturday afternoon in the Seawolves home opener. The loss drops Stony Brook to 0-2 while Harvard improved to 1-0.

Calvert scored twice in the first quarter as Harvard built a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes of action. The Crimson continued the surge in the second quarter on goals from Greg Cohen, Steve Cohen and Calvert to jump out to a 6-0 lead.

Bo Tripodi put the Seawolves on the board with his first goal of the season at 4:31 to cut the lead to 6-1.

But Calvert answered again only 1:24 later to extend the Crimson lead to 7-1. The Seawolves discovered their offense late in the half on goals from Larry Cerasi and Adam Marksberry to head into the break trailing 7-3.

Stony Brook continued to chip away at the Harvard lead in the third quarter. Marksberry, Owen Adams and Tripodi all found the back of the net to trim the lead to 7-6 heading into the final stanza.

Trailing 7-6 and stifling Harvard's offense in the second half, the Crimson broke their second-half scoring drought on a miscue by Stony Brook goalie Brendan Callahan. Callahan had the ball in his stick 10 yards in front of the goal and attempted to elude Harvard's Tom Boylan on a clear attempt. Boylan jarred the ball loose from Callahan as the goalie sped up the field. Boylan scooped it up and fired it into the wide open goal to extend the Crimson lead to 8-6.
