Men's Lacrosse Dominates Lafayette 11-2

Cappadoro registers four points in SB's first win of the season

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Jason Cappadoro had two goals and two assists to lead Stony Brook to a convincing 11-2 win over Lafayette in men's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon. The win snapped a three-game losing skid to help the Seawolves improve to 1-3. Lafayette falls to 1-6.

Adam Marksberry's unassisted goal 2:24 into the game ignited a five-goal outburst by the home team that saw SB take a 5-0 lead in just over 15 minutes of action. Lafayette's Drew Weisman cut the lead to 5-1 on a man-up goal at 7:04 of the second quarter, but Cappadoro's first goal of the game pushed the lead back to five with 4:42 remaining in the half.

Freshmen Ryan Maehr and Sean Chamberlain scored their first collegiate goals before the half ended to send SB into the locker room up 8-1.

Stony Brook outscored the Leopards 3-0 in the third quarter on goals from Cappadoro, Kyle Pearl and Marksberry. LC's Bart Seifert closed out the scoring with his fifth goal of the year in the fourth quarter.

SB freshman goalie Brendan Callahan made his second straight start in goal and earned his first collegiate win. Callahan turned aside eight Leopard shots in three quarters of action.

Michael Koch made four saves in goal for Lafayette.

Stony Brook is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Lehigh. Face-off is 1 p.m.
