BURLINGTON, Vermont - Dartmouth's Scott Goslyn (Philadelphia, PA) scored
five goals as the Big Green defeated Vermont, 15-10, in non-league men's
lacrosse action at UVM's Centennial Field Wednesday.
After an exciting first quarter in which each team scored four goals,
Dartmouth - 6-5 overall - opened it up with four unanswered goals in the
second quarter to take an 8-4 lead at halftime.
Vermont, 4-9 overall, cut the Dartmouth lead to 9-7 with 6:34 remaining in
the third quarter on a goal by Lowell Thompson (Shelburne, VT). But
Dartmouth responded with two more goals, both by Roslyn and the second
coming with one second left in the quarter, to take an 11-7 lead after
three.
Darren Yulfo (Long Beach, NY) scored three goals for Dartmouth, while David
Farber (Port Washington, NY) had two. Ben Grinnell (Waccabuc, NY), Matt
Heineman (Darien, CT), Connor Price (Alexandria, VA), Tom Daniels (Duxbury,
MA) and Russell Radebaugh (Freeland, MD) each scored once, while Radebaugh
added two assists.
Sophomore Phil McKnight (Baltimore, MD) led the way for Vermont with four
goals and one assist. Mark Prior (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) and Thompson
added two goals each, while Doug Moses (Marietta, NY/Marcellus) and Thomas
Hajek (St. Catharines, ONT) scored one goal each. Hajek also contributed
three assists.
In goal, Vermont's Michael Gabel (Falmouth, MA) had nine saves, while
Dartmouth's Mike Gault had five and Andrew Goldstein two.
Vermont finishes out the 2002 season on Saturday at 1:00pm when it hosts
Binghamton University in an America East contest at Centennial Field.
