The Game Story:
VILLANOVA, Pa. - Delaware (8-4 overall, 3-1 Colonial Athletic Association) scored five goals in the third quarter to break open a tight contest and went on to defeat Villanova (6-5 overall, 2-2 CAA) in a game played here on a cool night at Villanova Stadium.

Villanova scored two of the game's three first quarter goals as junior Matt Starker and senior Chris Kramer scored. The Wildcats took that 2-1 advantage into the second stanza.

The second period, however, belonged to the Blue Hens. Dan Deckelbaum, Greg Grevey and Vincent Giordano scored to stake Delaware to a 4-2 halftime edge while VU was held without a goal.

Delaware continued to apply pressure in the third period, tallying five of the six goals in the period to build a 9-3 cushion. Jordan Hall, Joe Trentzsch, Andy Hipple, Giordano and Deckelbaum were credited with the Blue Hen goals while the `Cats only score of the period came from senior Dan Fanelli with 6:56 left in the quarter.

Any Wildcat hopes for a rally were dashed quickly, as Hall scored just 23 seconds into the fourth period to push the lead to 10-3. Each team scored two more goals and the Blue Hens emerged with the win.

Joe Canuso made 12 saves in net for Villanova while senior Dan Biser was credited with two in a relief role. Chris Collins earned the win in net for Delaware, making seven saves. Delaware outshot Villanova 41-22 on the night.
