The Game Story:
Villanova, Pa. - Villanova University (2-2) scored the first 13 goals of the game to cruise past the visiting Leopards of Lafayette University (0-3) 14-4 this evening in Villanova Stadium.

With the win, Villanova improves to 18-2 overall in the series; the Wildcats have won five straight against the Leopards. `Nova owned a 37-25 shot margin, a 38-25 groundball margin and a 16-6 mark in face-offs. Villanova was also two-for-three on extra man opportunities.

Villanova's sophomore attacker Chris MacDonald (Westfield, N.J.) opened the scoring 58 seconds into the game with an unassisted goal. He scored again just over four minutes later off a feed from senior defenseman Ben Remmey (Maple Glen, Pa.). Junior midfielder Eric Heidenberger (Chevy Chase, Md.) and senior midfielder Matt Starker (Summit, N.J.) each scored a man up goal to give Villanova a 4-0 lead at 11:22 in the second quarter. Starker's goal marked his 100th career point.

`Nova rolled from there getting goals from sophomore attacker Matt Panneton (9:36, 2nd quarter), MacDonald (6:41, 2nd), Starker (5:45, 2nd), MacDonald (0:20, 2nd), junior midfielder Garrett Hohendorf (White Lake, Mich.) (10:54, 3rd), Starker (3:02, 3rd), Panneton (0:11, 3rd), freshman Matthew Fritts (Dallas, Tex.) (8:30, 4th), and Hohendorf, this time on a dribbler right in front of the cage with 7:05 left in the game. Hohendorf's second goal gave Villanova a 13-0 advantage.

Sean Burek got the Leopards on the board with 5:57 left off an assist by Ryan Spitz. Brian Cronise posted an unassisted goal with 4:13 left for Lafayette before `Nova's sophomore midfielder Tim Atkins (West Chester, Pa.) notched his first goal of the year with 2:45 to go. Leopard Leo Stinson scored unassisted at 1:11 before assisting John Galassi on the game's final goal.

Villanova's face-off specialist junior Chris Colliniates (Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) won 12 of 17 face-offs and picked up nine groundballs. `Nova senior goalie Joe Canuso (Moorestown, N.J.) made 11 saves for his third straight double figure save game.
