Villanova vs. Stony Brook

The Game Story:
Villanova, Pa. - The Wildcat men's lacrosse team behind a 7-0 run to start the game defeated Stony Brook with ease, 13-5. The April 6 victory brings Villanova's record to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

Stony Brook won the opening face-off and controlled the ball for the next 2:20 of the game. After the Wildcats got the ball and an offensive possession of their own the rout was on as Villanova went on a 7-0 scoring run that the Seawolves never could answer.

The Wildcats had a host of scorers as seven players notched goals. In his first start in replace of the injured Dave Cacciabeve, freshman Matt Starker scored four goals to lead the 'Cats. Senior Brian Marks played in typical fashion with three goals and two assists. Scoring three points on two goals and one assist was sophomore Dan Fanelli in his strongest outing of the season.

Rounding out the Villanova scoring was Brendan O'Donnell, Matt Lucas, Richie Kratz, and Chris Kramer all with one goal each. Goalkeeper Joseph Canuso made six saves on 14 Stony Brook shots. As a team the Wildcats out shot the Seawolves 34 to 14 and grabbed 52 groundballs.

The 'Cats return to action on April 12 versus Towson. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Villanova Stadium and features two undefeated teams in the CAA.
